LightCraft - Ready to use?

The progress of AI is really amazing. A clever programmer named Brandon Thomas used Claude to reprogram a bunch a software suits in Rust. His project is named ArtCraft and collects representable software packages like Photoshop, Lightroom, a CAD program, a PDF handler, Word and a lot more. The effort is free, but any AI use inside the programs requires a subscription.

If you want to join, go to the page of ArtCraft and install the Launcher. Nowadays, this feels a bit dangerous. But so far, no one has claimed any security holes. You can then install the packages from the window as shown below, and also update from there.

This is something which was unthinkable even a year ago. Adobe claimed once that it is now economically unfeasible to start Photoshop all over again. The program is simply too complex and worth hundreds of men years. But AI has done it. How well, remains to be judged.

I only tested Lightroom so far. From the hasty publication of the project, I expected some unpolished edges. And sure enough, much is not ready yet. On the top of this page, you see the export from Adobe's Lightroom and below the export from LightCraft. There are visible artefacts and the overall contrast and details are wrong.

I tried to get rid of this problem, and if I find a way, I will post it here. My fear is, that this is the current state of this software. We have to wait until things sort out.
