About Me and this Blog

My name is René Grothmann. I am a retired math prof, living in Bavaria, Germany. I am not a professional photographer. I do not intend to earn money with my hobby. If you see ads on this blog, they are coming from Google, the host of blogger.com. But as far as I know, Blogger does not spam with ads yet. I also have no affiliation with a camera maker or any other sponsor.
So, who am I and why am I writing about photography? Mainly, I write for my own fun. It has educational value for me. Writing and teaching are good ways to learn. It also involves experiments in photography, which helped me to understand more. If the blog is helpful to you, I would be happy to read your comment. But this is one of the billion pages on the web today, and it has minimal reach. So, I write it mainly for my own joy.
I am not a native English speaker. This will be apparent often. I fix mistakes in English occasionally whenever I spot them. I am sorry for any misunderstanding caused by my poor English.
Here are some pages that I would like to recommend.
- DOF and Bokeh - Explained
- Equivalence of ISO Noise on different Sensor Sizes
- Teaching Photography - The Basics
- Portfolio
You can download the pictures on this page for your own use. Of course, you must not use them professionally. If you use them in a public place, please cite me.
